Clearlake Soap Box Derby Rule Book

Have FUN and be SAFE!

The Derby is intended to be a fun and entertaining event for participants, spectators, and volunteers as well as showing off the talent and creativity of the participants.

Fees

The registration fee will be $25 per team, per division. (For example, Speed Division $25. And Art Division $25 =$50 for both divisions). Registration is secured once the fee has been paid in full.  Once all slots are filled a waiting list will be created. Races will consist of 2-3 vehicles at a time.

The Speed Division will consist of three age groups: seven to twelve (7–12) years old; thirteen to seventeen (13-17) years old; and eighteen and older (18 +).

Teams can select to enter either the Speed division or the Art division. Vehicles can enter both (however, two entry fees must be paid prior to the race).

Divisions

Speed Division– Vehicles will be timed. Teams with the fastest average time will move on to the championship rounds.  The championship races will also be timed, and the two fastest cars will compete in the final race.

Speed Division Ages Groups
